Dr. Ananda Shova Tamrakar (Ms.) is the President of Trans Himalayan Environment and Livelihood Program (THELP). She was born in Kathmandu , Nepal . With a PhD in Entomology and Post Graduate degree in Environmental Management, she has a rich experience in the environmental sector in Nepal and is a well renowned national environmentalist. She has conducted many research activities and training programs (for more than 2,000 people) on environmental issues, such as vermi-compost, bio- pesticide, organic farming and waste management.
She has been working on the control and management of solid waste and chemical pesticides for protecting environment and human health. Few of her widely read researches are "Effectiveness of vermi-compost analyzed for sustainable management of soil", "Integrated Participatory Domestic Elephant waste management in Buffer Zones of Chitwan National Park," "Socio Economic Study of Langtang Region for the Department of Tourism", "Ecology of Godavari Hills" and "Study of misuse of Pesticide in Vegetables and fruits" are among many researches she has carried out.
She has worked with UNDP, JICA, Helvetas, IUCN, FAO, Government of Nepal, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and Centre for Rural Technology (CRT). |
